SA first for Isa Carstens

In the first of its kind in South Africa, Isa Carstens Academy has launched its new Advanced Diploma in Dermal Aesthetics.

According to the academy, what makes this program unique is that it is presented on a NQF Level 7, which will afford somatology and nursing graduates the opportunity to further their studies on NQF
Level 8.

Furthermore, the diploma is offered as a distance learning programme.

With an increasing number of medical aesthetics clinics now offering non-invasive rejuvenation treatments, medical practitioners are relying on somatologists / nurses to complement their offerings  in medical aesthetics clinics.

Consequently, somatologists / nurses must perform a large array of treatments under the supervision of medical practitioners.

The new Advanced Diploma in Dermal Aesthetics is designed to address the needs of the somatologist / nurse working in this specialised field.  Says Dr Cobus van Niekerk, a well-known GP with a special interest in aesthetic medicine and ethics from Wellnessthetics in Randburg (and President of AAMSSA):

“It is a great pleasure to be working with ISA Carstens Academy in educating students in the newly developed Advanced Diploma in Dermal Aesthetics. This will most definitely fill a void in the somatologist’s curriculum in understanding and supporting medical doctors in their daily practice.”
